Interesting perspective from Dr. Philip Harter, MD, Standford University.

Shrink the world’s population into 100 people (keeping ratios of everything the same) and here’s what you get:

57 Asians

21 Europeans

14 from Western Hemispheres (north and south)

8 Africans

52 Male, 48 Female

70 NonWhite, 30 White

70 NonChristian, 3o Christian

89 heterosexual, 11 homosexual

SIX people would possess 59% of the world’s wealth, and all 6 would be from the United States.

80 would live in substandard housing.

70 would be illiterate.

50 would be suffering malnutrition.

One (yes, only one!) would have a college education.

One would own a computer.

How can the wealthy 6 live in peace with their neighbors? Surely they would be driven to arm themselves against the other 94…perhaps even to spend, as AMericans do, about twice as much per person on military defense as the total income of 2/3 of the village.

When one considers the world from this compressed perspective, the need for acceptance, understanding, and education becomes glaringly apparent.

Happy Monday. Do something good today.
